Starlight Children’s Foundation gives NorthShore Evanston Hospital’s Pediatric Treatment Room a Makeover Student-led Dance Marathon Raises Money to Help Remodel Pediatric Treatment Room

On May 11, the Child Life Services Department of NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) Evanston Hospital held a dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting for a newly remodeled Treatment Room in the Pediatric Unit. A representative from Starlight Children’s Foundation and three student leaders from Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM) were invited to see firsthand the impact their gift will have on patients. This generous donation resulted from the tremendous efforts of NUDM’s 30 hours of dancing and a year’s worth of hard work.

What once was a white-walled Treatment Room with plain cabinets has been transformed by the addition of artificial skylights and a vibrant blue mural of underwater sea creatures to create a more child-friendly environment for young patients. Those undergoing invasive procedures are being cared for in this much-improved, calmer and less intimidating environment, thanks to the generous donation.
