EVANSTON, Ill. – This year, NUDM raised $1,253,596 dollars for GiGi’s Playhouse and ECF. This marks the 7th consecutive year that the organization has reached over $1 million dollars, surpassing last year’s total of $1.2 million dollars. As a result, NUDM wrote the second largest check it has ever written, providing GiGi’s Playhouse with $983,833 dollars, while ECF received $109,314 dollars.
This was the 20th year that NUDM partnered with ECF as its secondary beneficiary, while GiGi’s Playhouse was selected as the primary beneficiary in the spring of 2016. GiGi’s Playhouse is the only nationwide network of Down syndrome achievement centers; changing lives through free, results-driven programs for individuals of all ages, families and communities. To further GiGi’s cause, NUDM committed to spreading an overarching message of acceptance throughout the Northwestern community and beyond. On Giving Tuesday, NUDM raised $132,664 dollars in a single 24-hour period, funding a total of 3,085voice therapy session for GiGi’s Playhouse. With the the total funds received from NUDM, GiGi’s Playhouse will also be able to fund a mobile playhouse program that will allow GiGi’s to be even more accessible to underserved neighborhoods.
