EVANSTON, Ill. – This year, Northwestern University Dance Marathon (NUDM) raised $1,175,709.82 dollars for Cradles to Crayons and the Evanston Community Foundation (ECF). This marks the 8th consecutive year that the organization has reached over $1 million dollars, awarding $942,793.20 to Cradles to Crayons and $104,754.80 to ECF.
This was the 21st year that NUDM partnered with ECF as its secondary beneficiary, while Cradles to Crayons was selected as the primary beneficiary in the spring of 2017. Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. To further Cradles to Crayons’ cause, NUDM celebrated a yearlong philanthropic effort to connect communities and enable childhood dreams.
On Giving Tuesday, NUDM raised over $140,434 dollars in a single 24-hour period, funding a total of 14,043 coats for Cradles to Crayons’ Gear Up for Winter Program. This year, NUDM broke an organization fundraising record, raising more money on Giving Tuesday than ever before. With the total funds received from NUDM, Cradles to Crayons will be able to increase its ability to fulfill community requests, thereby doubling the number of children they can serve.
