Compass to Care and the Evanston Community Foundation support so many incredible heroes and organizations that we KNOW you want to engage with! Throughout the rest of fall quarter we have multiple virtual engagement opportunities planned that will allow you to connect with our beneficiaries in meaningful and educational ways.
BUILD: BUILD stands for Build, Uplift, Inspire, Learn and Dance! The BUILD Program is designed to virtually connect the heroes of Compass to Care with the NUDM 2021 participants. Throughout the year, we will be hosting games-themed events, winter parties, and arts and crafts sessions over Zoom, in hopes of build connections with families impacted by Compass to Care that last far beyond the thirty-hour dance marathon event! BUILD events will also connect groups of NUDM members to families from Compass to Care, providing our dancers the opportunity to ask families questions, hear about their cancer journeys, and learn more about Compass to Care.
Speaker Series: are panels designed to educate the broader Northwestern community about the issues that Compass to Care and the Evanston Community Foundation work tirelessly to mitigate, particularly during the Covid-19 Pandemic. By hearing from the parents served by Compass to Care, medical professionals battling on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic, and leaders of Evanston-based organizations, we hope to not only educate the Northwestern community but inspire individuals to fight for health equity, as well as an inclusive and just local community! All Speaker Series will be available through Facebook Livestream. Let us know you attended at this link.
Mentorship: The mentorship program is designed to virtually connect NUDM dancers to heroes to foster individual connections in a big-brother, big-sister format. Dancers will get to interact with heroes on a one-to-one basis and form deeper relationships by listening to heroes’ stories, playing games with them, bonding over shared interests and ultimately just hanging out as friends! If you’re interested in being a mentor, submit THIS application so we can pair you with one of Compass to Care’s amazing heroes!
ECF Volunteering: The Evanston Community Foundation has been fighting to promote a more equitable and inclusive Evanston for over thirty years by awarding grants to deserving individuals, families, and organizations with the goal of helping Evanston thrive. We are providing NUDM dancers the opportunity to remotely volunteer for these Evanston organizations using their unique talents to serve in roles such as website development, online tutoring, social medial marketing, and so much more! If you’re interested in supporting ECF organizations during the pandemic, fill out THIS application.
Participation Points: One benefit of engaging with the NUDM community and our beneficiaries is you are eligible for points! Every event you go to is worth a certain amount of points, which you can “cash in” during the 30-hours for in tent perks! And this means EVERY event! BUILD, Trivia, Mentorship, Speaker Series, dancer meetings are all part of this system! You must remember to fill out various attendance forms in order to be eligible for NUDM perks.
