Giving Tuesday, one of Dance Marathon’s biggest fundraising pushes, was a huge success this year. Taking place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, this global day of giving draws many students, donors, alumni into the NUDM community every year to boost support for our beneficiaries.

NUDM exceeded its goal for donations this year, thanks to the team’s strategy of creating as many touch points with donors as possible. Committee and executive board members spent the day making calls and sending out emails and text messages.

“I really tried hard to draw upon the nostalgia of NUDM for alumni,” said Development and Alumni Relations Chair Eva Offutt. Since it's NUDM’s 50th anniversary, alumni donations had an extra special meaning. Many alumni looked back fondly on NUDM as an influential part of their college years and were excited to give back to a tradition that was such a cornerstone of their Northwestern experience.

Offutt also said that fundraising was so successful in part because Ronald McDonald House Charities is such a worthy cause. “Everyone who picked up the phone recognized the name and was excited to support both RMHC and NUDM, as an organization they hold close to their hearts and have supported in the past,” she said.

The NUDM team will continue to launch fundraising events and campaigns in the coming months. From NUDM traditions like canning at sports games to new additions, like “Blind Date with a Book” sales and an upcoming basketball tournament at Blomquist Recreation Center, NUDM looks forward to connecting with even more community members as we ramp up for our March 29-30 event at Welsh-Ryan Arena!
